Mary Potter Kenyon graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a BA in Psychology. She lives with four of her eight children in Manchester, Iowa, where she writes features for the local newspaper and a weekly coupon column for the Dubuque Telegraph Herald. She conducts couponing and writing workshops for local community colleges, libraries and bookstores. Mary applies the principles of lifetime learning to her own freelance writing experience; from years of scribbling rough drafts on legal pads in snatched moments while her babies slept, to submitting for publication and speaking at workshops and women's groups. Mary’s writing has been featured in national magazines such as “Home Education,” “Our Iowa,” “Backwoods Home,” “Back Home,” “The Writer,” “Woman’s World,” among others, in newspapers, and sixteen anthologies, including four Chicken Soup books. She is currently working with her agent on a non-fiction research book about extreme coupon users. Mary became a widow in March of 2012, losing her best friend and husband of almost 33 years.
